Pay by your due date to confirm your spot. Due dates are below.
Before your session, you'll get pre-session videos and materials to review, plus everything you need for arrival and housing, or for joining online.

Deadlines, payment, and refunds
Priority application deadline
February 12, 2027. We review applications on a rolling basis, so applying early gives you the best chance at your first-choice session.
After February 12
Applications stay open as long as spots remain. Once a session is full, you can still apply to join its waitlist.
Final day to apply
Session A (in person): June 5, 2027
Session B (in person): June 26, 2027
Session C (live online): July 10, 2027
Decisions
Within a week of applying. We'll email you whether you've been accepted and, if you are, send next steps and a link to pay tuition.
When payment is due
Same for in-person and live online sessions. It depends on when you apply:
By February 12, 2027: payment is due February 28, 2027.
Between February 13 and May 1, 2027: payment is due within 30 days of receiving your payment link.
After May 1, 2027: payment is due within 2 weeks of the date your payment link is sent, or by your session's final day to apply, whichever comes first.
Your spot is confirmed only once tuition is paid.
Refunds
In person (Sessions A and B): Refund requests for any reason must be made by May 15, 2027. We may keep any administrative fees needed to process your application or incurred during enrollment. After May 15, 2027, refunds are unlikely to be granted unless the request involves illness, a family emergency, or other exigent circumstances; if a refund is granted, we may keep any portion of the fee needed to cover program costs. No refunds can be issued within two weeks before your session starts.
Live online (Session C): The same terms apply, with a May 31, 2027 refund request deadline and no refunds within one week before the session starts.
Questions about cost and admission
Who can attend?
High school students in grades 9–12 who are at least 15 years old by the first day of their session. Applicants also need a minimum 3.0 weighted GPA.
How much does it cost, and what's included?
In person: $2,200 per session, including housing in the UCLA residence halls, meals, materials, lectures, and the final tournament. Live online: $1,500, covering materials, lectures, and the final tournament.
How are students selected?
Admission is selective. Applicants must meet the age and GPA requirements, and we review each student's answers to the "Why MTI" and academic integrity questions to choose the students who will contribute most meaningfully to the program. You'll get your decision within a week of applying.
When is my spot confirmed?
Only once your tuition is paid. Being accepted doesn't hold your spot by itself, so pay by your due date (see "When payment is due" in above section).
What happens if I don't pay by my due date?
Your spot is forfeited, and you'll be placed at the bottom of the waitlist.
How does the waitlist work?
Once a session is full, you can still apply to join its waitlist. When a spot opens, we'll email you. Reply within 48 hours to accept it, and we'll send your payment link. If we don't hear back within 48 hours, we offer the spot to the next person on the list. You can ask to be removed from the waitlist at any time.
Is the waitlist worth joining?
Yes! A waitlist spot isn't guaranteed, but in past years we've often been able to offer a place to everyone on the waitlist. If the session you want is full, we encourage you to still apply.
Do in-person students stay overnight?
Yes. The in-person sessions are fully residential: every student lives in the UCLA residence halls for the week, with meals included.
What are the daily hours for the online session?
The online session runs live on Zoom from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pacific Time, with breaks for lunch and dinner.
