Program Activities
Students learn about mock trial through an immersive program including lectures, workshops, simulated trials and more. See a sample schedule here for our in person sessions. For more details on the program and our rules, see the Student Handbook here.
Lectures
Attend lectures by lawyers, UCLA professors, UCLA Mock Trial alumni, and current competitors! You will learn how to develop case theories, direct and cross examine witnesses, deliver opening and closing statements, make objections, and respond to questioning as a witness.
Workshops
Work in teams of 12-13 students with a team of UCLA Mock Trial counselors. Together, we will develop a case for both prosecution and defense. You will write speeches and examinations, and we will provide feedback on substance, performance, and delivery.
Careers in Law Panel
Hear from judges, lawyers, professors, and law students about their trajectory throughout the legal career field and what strategies they employed to become successful.
Field Trip
Mid-week field trip to Westwood Village! We will have lunch and visit some L.A. landmarks!
Final Tournament
Show off all of your hardwork! The week will conclude with a final tournament where you prosecute or defend our fictional defendant. You will present in front of lawyers and judges with your team!
